Ngusa [1] ( Arabic: النقوسة ) is a city and a commune in eastern Algeria , in the province of Ouargla . The administrative center and the only commune in the district of the same name .

Geographical position
The city is located in the northwestern part of vilayet, on the territory of one of the oases of northern Sahara , at a distance of about 540 kilometers (in a straight line) to the southeast of the capital of Algeria . The absolute height is 125 meters above sea level [2] .
The commune of Ngus borders on the communes of Ouargla , El Aliyah , Al Hajir , Hassi Ben Abdallah and Sidi Huiled . Its area is 2907 km².
Climate
The climate of the city is characterized as arid hot ( BWh in the Köppen climate classification ). Precipitation during the year is extremely low (average annual amount is 45 mm). The average annual temperature is 22.3 ° C. The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is 10.7 ° С, the hottest month (July) is 34.3 ° С [3] .
Population
According to the official census of 2008, the population of the commune was 16 581 people. The proportion of the male population was 50.5%, the female - 49.5%, respectively [4] . The literacy rate of the population was 73.3%. The literacy rate among men was 82.4%, among women - 64.1% [5] . 4.4% of Ngus residents had higher education, 12.2% had secondary education [6] .
