According to Ctesias , Artary around 449 BC. er mediated in the negotiations between Artaxerxes and Syria’s insurgent satrap Megabiz , after the latter in two battles consistently defeated government forces against him. In this case, the son of Artharius was seriously wounded. During the talks, megabiz stated that it was ready to conduct them only under the condition of “granting autonomy to it”. In support of the rebel, along with other notable Persians, the widowed queen Amestrida , mother of Artaxerxes, also spoke out.
