Biography
Herring moved to , Virginia, at the age of 12. [3] Raised by a single mother, he graduated from Loudon Valley High School in 1979 and worked in construction and many other jobs to pay for college. [4] He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Economics from the University of Virginia . He also has a master 's degree in international relations. Herring received a doctorate degree from the Law School.
From 1992 to 1999, he was the city attorney in , Virginia, from 2000 to 2003, he held elected positions on the Board of Observer of Loudon County. He is a director of the law firm The Herring Law Firm, PC, in Leesburg, Virginia.
Member from 2006 to 2014, represented the 33rd district, consisting of parts of the Fairfax and Loudon counties.
