Social ethics

Social ethics, or the ethics of social life ( Engl. Social ethics ) is a section of applied ethics that studies ethical relations - values , goals, and human responsibilities in society [1] [2] . Social ethics makes it possible to normatively justify group, institutional and corporate relations, as well as develop methods of control and assistance in solving social problems, such as orphanhood , poverty , deprivation , assistance to the needy, problems of the elderly, the disabled [3] . Discipline allows you to develop a theory and practical approaches of responsible human existence in relationships with other people and nature, it has a regulatory function and focuses on actions that are born as a result of a system of socially significant norms and obligations [4] [5] Thus, the subject of social ethics is a social institution that allows you to regulate social relations from a value-oriented position. [3] .

Areas of social ethics include, but are not limited to: political ethics , economic ethics, discursive ethics, institutional ethics.

Don Welch, professor of law at the School of Law at Vanderbilt University (USA), defines the main tasks of social ethics, each of which is a value-oriented action [6] :

1. Consideration of social conditions and identification of problem factors taking into account the norms;

2. Analysis of possible actions that may change factors recognized as problematic;

3. The prescription of solutions based on the study of problems and analysis of options for action [7] [3]

Social ethics considers such concepts as social institution, social morality , social justice , social responsibility , philanthropy , patriotism , cosmopolitanism , social trust [2] .
