Macromiidae (lat.) - a family of dragonflies . Contains 4 genera and 125 species. Previously traditionally considered as a subfamily of Corduliidae Kirby , 1890 .

They are similar in size to Aeshnidae , but have green eyes. Females of the family have no ovipositor , so they lay their eggs by immersing the abdomen in water, flying over it. The male is usually not present when the female lays eggs.
Naiad is found in streams, rivers and flowing (with the flow of water) lakes.
The family was described by George Niedem in 1903 [1] .
