Historical Museum Iskra (Kazanlak)

In the Bulgarian city of Kazanlak in 1901, one of the very first local history museums in the country was founded. The funds of the museum include about 50,000 exhibits related to the material sphere and spiritual culture of Kazanlak. Museum exhibits are stored in several sections: “Renaissance”, “Archeology”, “New History”, “Recent History”, “Ethnography” ^[1] .

The museum contains a huge number of exhibits that relate to Thrace , there are also exhibits that are related to the Valley of the Thracian rulers. Stone and bone tools are presented here, there are beads, bracelets, rings. There are pendants that were made in the VI-IV centuries BC. e. There are ceramic vessels. In the Iskra Historical Museum, you can learn more about Thracian graves. The Kazanlak Thracian tomb is stored here. It was opened on April 19, 1944 in the city of Sevtopolis ^{[1] [2]} .

In addition to the tomb, there are various objects that were found in barrows located near the city of Kazanlak. This is the Moglizh tomb and Golyamata Kosmatka. The museum houses exhibits dated to the Roman era. There are also medieval artifacts found in a necropolis near the village of Kryn, Kazanlak Territory ^[1] .

Exhibits are presented that relate to the period of the Bulgarian Renaissance. They reflect what was life in the XVIII-XIX centuries. Preserved jewelry and clothing of local residents in different periods ^[1] .

In one of the sections of the museum, visitors can see everything related to the wars of the 20th century. There are medals, orders, photographs, documents. The score of the first Bulgarian opera Orphan has been preserved. The premiere of this work by composer Emanuel Manolov took place in Kazanlak in 1900. There are scores of the composer Petko Steinov, who died in 1977 ^[1] .

The section "Recent History" contains everything related to the participation of the 23rd Shipkin Infantry Regiment in the Second World War as part of the Red Army . Among the exhibits there are photographs taken during the construction of the Koprinka reservoir ^[1] .

In another room, gold, silver and bronze items are found, which were found in Thracian temple tombs. This is the golden wreath of the Thracian king Sevta, who lived in the IV century BC, and kneecaps, a helmet. Presented gold and silver ammunition for a horse. There is a collection of coins ^[1] .

The museum has a multimedia room, which hosts a demonstration of films that relate to archaeological excavations and discoveries. There is a gift shop. You can become a member of the tour. Photography and video shooting in the museum is possible, but it is paid ^[1] .

One of the components of the Iskra Museum is the Rose Museum ^[3] . Another component of the museum is the ethnographic complex "Kulata", which was founded in 1976. It displays urban and rustic lifestyles ^[4] . House of Petko Steiknov - also belongs to the Iskra historical museum. This museum officially appeared on June 1, 2002 and contains a permanent exhibition of "Petko Steinov", which includes an office, a music salon, an electronic archive with various documents. In the same part of the museum is located the first piano of the composer ^[5] .

The museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ^[4] .
