Intel Extreme Masters Season XIII - Major

There are four regional qualifiers (minor) - America, Asia, the CIS and Europe, which will include 8 teams. Two teams from each of them proceed to the “New Challengers” stage. In addition, the teams that took third place in their minors will get a second chance in which the teams will play until there are two left.

The top 8 teams from FACEIT Major: London 2018 are known as legends, the remaining 16 are applicants.

Major is divided into three stages: the first stage is the “New Applicants” phase, in which all applicants participate, including teams that took ninth to fourteenth places in FACEIT Major , and ten teams that went through the minor system. The eight best teams go to the next stage, and the remaining eight teams go home. The second stage is the “New Legends” stage. At this stage, eight legends from the FACEIT Major , and eight teams from the “new challengers” phase are participating. As with the previous stage, after the “New Legends” there are 8 teams left. However, the top six teams out of eight are automatically invited to the next major.

The final stage is the stage of the New Champions. This stage includes eight teams. Teams play until a winner is determined. ^[3]

Card Pool

The card pool has not changed since the last major ^[4] , it includes: Cache, Dust II, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Train, Overpass.

Eight teams will be represented in each regional qualifying tournament called Minors. Each minor also has a prize pool of $ 50,000, the first place gets $ 30,000, the second place is $ 15,000, and the third place is $ 5,000. Unlike past minors, no team will be directly invited to the Minorams. ^[5] All of them will also be held in Katowice to avoid visa problems.

CIS Minor

Sixteen teams will be presented to Minor in the CIS qualifying round. The Winstrike team was automatically invited based on the sixteen best teams in the FACEIT Major , and seven more teams were invited. Eight more teams qualified through online qualifying rounds.

CIS Minor took place from January 16 to January 20, 2019. ^[6]

European Minor

Sixteen teams will be represented in the qualifying round. mousesports was automatically invited based on the sixteen best places on the FACEIT Major , and seven more teams were invited. Eight more teams qualified through online qualifying rounds.

The European Minor took place from January 16 to January 20, 2019, on the same dates as the CIS Minor. ^[7]

Asian Minor

There will be two teams from Oceania in Asia Minor, two teams from China , two teams from East Asia , one team from Southeast Asia and one team from the Middle East . In each qualifying tournament, four invited teams and four more teams will participate through two online qualifying rounds.

The Asian Minor took place from January 22 to 26, 2019. ^[eight]

American Minor

Sixteen teams will be represented in the qualifying tournament in North America . Eight teams were invited, and eight more teams qualified through online qualifiers. Eight teams will be represented in the South American qualifying tournament. Four teams were invited and four more teams qualified through two online qualifiers.

The American Minor took place from January 22 to January 26, 2019, on the same dates as the Asian Minor. ^[9]

Play In Minor

In this qualifying tournament, teams that took third place in their minors were represented.

The stage "New applicants" was held from February 13 to 17, 2019. This stage is a Swiss tournament of sixteen teams. Decisive matches and elimination meetings are held in the best-of-3 format (up to two wins), the rest in the best-of-1 format (before the first victory). The best 8 teams go to the "New Legends" stage. ^[12] Sowing was released on February 6, 2019.

Stage "" of new legends will be held from February 20 to February 24, 2019. The format will be the same as in the previous stage, “New Applicants”. ^[12]

The stage "New Champions" was held from February 28 to March 3, 2019. All games are played in the best-of-3 format (up to two wins).
