Kopaev, Yuri Vasilievich

Yuri Vasilievich Kopaev ( October 21, 1937 - December 24, 2012 ) - Soviet and Russian physicist , academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2008), doctor of physical and mathematical sciences (1972), professor , director of the department of solid body physics of the P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences ( 1995-2012). Major works in the field of semiconductor physics and the theory of superconductivity .

Biography

Graduated from the Moscow Energy Institute in 1962 .

In 1964 - 1970 he worked at the Research Institute of Molecular Electronics (Zelenograd); from 1970 he joined the Theoretical Department of the Lebedev Physical Institute , in 1992 - 1995 he was the head of the Laboratory of Semiconductor Physics of the Department of Solid State Physics of the Lebedev Physical Institute, in 1995 - 2012 he was the Director of the Department of Solid State Physics of the Lebedev Physical Institute.

Professor at the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology since 1975 .

Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences ( 1990 ), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences ( 1991 ), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences ( 2008 ) in the Department of Nanotechnologies and Information Technologies .

He was the chairman of the board of directors of the FIAN and MIET Scientific and Educational Center, the head of the Condensed State Theory section under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a member of the Nanotechnology Commission under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics . He prepared about 20 candidates of sciences, 8 of which later became doctors of sciences.

The author of more than 200 scientific papers.

He died in a car accident on December 24, 2012 [1] , and was buried at Troekurovsky cemetery.
