Creation History
In 1932 - 1937, the construction of the Moscow Canal [1] took place by prisoners of Dmitlag . According to the project, the Yakhroma river was divided in half, into the lower and upper parts.
The reservoir is formed by a dam with a spillway on the Yakhroma river directly in front of the Moscow Canal. Water from the Yakhroma reservoir falls into the canal, partially from the canal through the spillway to the place of the former Yakhroma River [2] , where it subsequently merges with the Volgush River .
Unlike the Iksha river, which was passed through the duker , water from Yakhroma flows into the canal.
Master Data
Area 0.56 km². The reservoir is relatively shallow, the average depth does not exceed 3 meters [3] . In the old riverbed, the depth is greater.
The water level in the reservoir is regulated by spillway No. 52 of the Yakhroma district of the Moscow Canal between the locks No. 3 and No. 4 [4] [5] . Spillway No. 51 serves to discharge excess water from the canal to the place of the former Yakhroma River.
It is covered with ice in late November - December. It opens in late March - April.
Value
The reservoir accumulates water and is a reserve of drinking water. If necessary, water is discharged into the canal and supplied to the water supply of Moscow [6] [7] .
Fishing
Roach, bream, tench, crucian carp, perch, pike, pike perch are caught on the reservoir, sometimes an asp is found [8] .
