Loknat

Loknath ( Kann . ಲೋಕನಾಥ್ ; August 14, 1927 , Bangalore - December 31, 2018 , Bangalore ), also known as Uncle Lokanath ( Eng. Uncle Lokanath ) - Indian film and theater actor, starred in films in the Kannada language . He took part in a total of 650 films and more than 1000 performances. He was recognized as a characteristic actor and often played the role of father. Winner of the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor in the film Minchina Ota [3] .

Biography

Born on August 14, 1927 in an orthodox family, which considered the profession of an actor an unworthy occupation [3] [4] . Despite the opposition of his family, Loknat showed interest in the theater from childhood, and in the mid-1950s appeared on the stage in the play “Bandalavavillada Badayi” [5] .

Loknat was about to become an engineer and began acting in films completely random. He was in the gym of the writer and playwright K.V. Ayer, where he learned about the nuances of acting. In 1970, he starred in the film Samskara . This was followed by roles in Gejje Pooje (1969), Sharapanjara (1971), Bangarada Manushya (1972), Doorada Betta (1973), Bangarada Panjara (1974), Kaaleju Ranga (1976), Singapurinalli Rajakulla (1978), Mane Mane Kathe (1978) 1981), (1988) and Bheema Teeradalli (2012) [3] . One of his best films was Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu (1974), based on the Vayyari storybook. In it, Loknat played a shoemaker who was obsessed with eating pickles. Wide popularity also brought him a role in the series Malgudi Days (1986) . The last time he appeared on the screen in a small role in Bheema Theeradalli (2012), a biographical film about , and Re (2016), which became the return for many famous people of cinema on Kannada [5] .

The actor died at his home in Bangalore on December 31, 2018 as a result of a heart attack. He had four daughters and a son, Ashwin [5] .
