Geography
It is located 1.5 km south-west of the island of Mangarev and about 300 m north of Angakauitai . It has the shape of a triangle . The area of the island is 5.7 km².
History
In 1838, the inhabitants of the island were Christianized . The European pioneer of Tarawai is the English captain Wilson, who discovered the island in 1797 .
Administrative Division
Administratively part of the Gambier commune.
Population
The only island settlement is Agonoko , in which 3 people live.
