Stefan Nosevich ( Roman Ștefan Nosievici , Hungarian. Noszjevics Stefán ; October 12 (24), 1833 , Sadgora , now Chernivtsi on November 12, 1869 , Suceava ) - Romanian composer and teacher, collector of Bukovinian musical folklore .
In 1853-1856 studied theology in Chernivtsi, then in 1856-1860. physics and mathematics in Vienna . Returning to Chernivtsi, he taught music in the Orthodox theological seminary and mathematics at school. Since 1863 he worked in Suceava in an Orthodox gymnasium, taught mathematics, physics, chemistry, music, etc. At the same time he directed the choir and string quartet. He was one of the main teachers and mentors of Ciprian Porumbescu .
The author of a number of choral compositions, many of them on verses by Vasile Alexandri , the most famous are the songs “Tatar” ( rum. Tătarul ), “Farewell” ( rum. Drum bun ), March of Romanian soldiers in Bessarabia ( rum. Marșul ostașilor români în Basarabia ). The collection of Nosevich's choral music was published posthumously ( rum. Colecțiune de coruri ; 1885).
