Organization
The administration consists of two sections. The Ordinary Section continues the work of the Holy See Property Administration ( Italian: Amministrazione dei Beni della Santa Sede ), a commission created by Pope Leo XIII in 1880 , initially as an advisory body, and in 1891 given direct responsibility for the management of property left by the Holy Throne , after the complete loss of the Papal region in 1870 . An extraordinary section administers funds provided by the Government of Italy for the implementation of the financial convention annexed to the 1929 Lateran Agreements . Prior to the creation of the Administration of the Church Property of the Holy See, these latter funds were administered by the Special Administration of the Holy See . [2]
The organizational structure of the Administration of the Church Property of the Holy See, with the names of its senior officials, is given on the website of the Holy See, which also provides the rules that govern its functioning.
The administration of the church property of the Holy See differs from the Prefecture of Economic Affairs of the Holy See .
After World War II , the International Monetary Fund recognized the Administration of the Church Property of the Holy See, and not the Institute of Religious Affairs , commonly called the “ Bank of the Vatican, ” the central bank of the Vatican . [3]
