Biography

Born in Rudolstadt . The son of a court doctor. From 1778 he traded books in Gotha . In 1785, he founded a card publishing company there. After his death, the case was continued by the publisher’s son, William. Justus Pertes Publishing House has gained great fame. Since 1785, the Gothic Almanac was produced here.
