History
Kemi Art Museum is the oldest art museum in Northern Finland. [2] The collection of his collection began in 1947 with a collection of works of art donated to the museum by lecturer Ape Rantaniemi, which included Finnish works of the 1910s and 1920s, such as Albert Edelfelt, Axeli Gallen-Kallela, Pekka Halonen, Eero Nelimarka , Marcus Colleen, Tyko Sullinen, Ellen Tesleff and the work of Magnus Enkell. [3] Initially, the collection was to be supplemented so that acquisitions of works of art were made through donations. Currently, the main focus of acquisitions at the Kemi Art Museum is the development of contemporary art of the district.
In 2007, the museum's collections included about 2156 works.
