Monument to the defenders of the Polish post office ( Polish: Pomnik Mrongowiusza ) - a monument erected in honor of the defenders of the defense of the Polish post office in Gdansk , one of the first battles of World War II and the Polish campaign , during which the Polish post office in Gdansk ( Danzig ) spent 15 hours defended the mail building from the SS troops.

One of the symbols of Gdansk. Opened on the fortieth anniversary of the outbreak of World War II at the Defenders of the Polish Post Office ( Polish plac Obro艅c贸w Poczty Polskiej ) on September 1, 1979 in front of Post Office No. 1. The author is the sculptor of Vincent Kuchma ( Wincenty Ku膰ma ).
The monument is a figure of a mortally wounded postal servant to whom the goddess Nick gives a rifle. Letters poured out of his mail bag.
The monument is made of stainless steel . Near the monument on the wall of the former post office there is a bronze epitaph with the names of the dead workers, the authors of which are sculptors Maria and Siegfried Korpalsky.
