Brand History
In 1971, under the direction of the chief cognac master of KKZ F.M. Hobt and process engineer A.I. Lapina was made cognac from spirits aged 15 years in oak barrels [3] . In the technological books of the plant, the drink was held under the code name Bagration . However, due to the fact that it was not customary to call alcohol in the country by their proper names, the new brand of cognac was called "Russia". But the Kizlyar Brandy Factory never received permission to issue this brand [1] [4] [5] .
In 1974, the plant received permission to produce this cognac with a volume of only 1000 dal [4] .
In 1976, the Kremlin again remembered this brand and at the XXV Congress of the CPSU the factory was tasked with urgently making the “Russia” cognac in the decanters of a new, more original form from transparent glass with a label depicting the Golden Ring of Russia . Then they approved the price and began industrial production. That is why the 1976th year is considered the year of birth of this brand [1] [4] [6] [7] .
At one of the prestigious exhibitions in Transcaucasia , the Rossiya cognac was called Cinderella for its fate that failed at the beginning of its journey, and a little later at the international competition in Bulgaria , where Kiev Rus and Kizlyar Rossiya competed for gold, Kizlyar cognac appreciated by the international jury and received a large gold medal, and "Rus" - a small

From 1976 to this day, the brandy "Russia" has been the official drink of the Kremlin's protocol events and is served at meetings of heads of state. Since 2008, other Kizlyar cognacs have become official drinks of the Kremlin: Bagration , Peter the Great , Dagestan and Kizlyar [2] .
Features
For the production of brandy "Russia" are used European grape varieties grown in Dagestan and the Stavropol Territory . The minimum age of the spirits used for blending is 15 years. At the same time, cognac distillate is aged in barrels of Caucasian mountain centenary oak. The drink is dark golden in color, strength is 40% vol., Sugar content: 10 g / dm³ [1] [4] .
Long exposure of cognac spirits softens the taste of the final product, ennobles its bouquet and develops a tone of aging. It achieved the harmony of aroma and taste. Light vanilla-chocolate tones with a gamut of delicate floral aroma are combined with an oily delicate taste [6] [4] .
