Manga has won many awards, including being the first of the Akita Shoten publishers to receive the Manga Taisho Award [1] .
In February 2019, the anime- movie adaptation was announced.
Content
Story
The story takes place in a world of civilized anthropomorphic animals, in which there is a cultural division into predators and herbivores. The name of the series is given from the world-famous work of the Bistar rank, which describes a character endowed with talent, fame and doing a lot of good for society.
The protagonist of the story is the big gray wolf Legosi, a quiet and timid student at the Cherriton school, living in a dormitory for predators, and also consisting in a school theater club, where he helps as a working stage .
One night, the Tam alpaca dies and is eaten, which leads to suspicion and tension between predators and herbivorous pupils at school. Around the same time, Legoshi met the dwarf hare Haru, and complex relationships began to develop between them.
Characters
Legosi ( レ ゴ シ Regosi ) is a tall gray wolf, quite humble, despite its awesome appearance. He tries to suppress predatory traits within himself in order to make friends with herbivores, but his feelings only get more confused after meeting with Haru. Legosi also decides to investigate Tam’s murder himself in order to find out the truth about what happened.
Louis ( ル イ Rui ) is a red deer , the head of a theater group. Proud and confident, he dreams of becoming the next bistar. He is inclined to look down on others, even being a herbivore surrounded by predators. Usually it’s a lot of intrigue, but with the development of history, it also demonstrates positive qualities. He had an affair with Haru.
Haru ( ハ ル Haru ) is the only member of the school’s garden club, an outcast of the school because of her sexual illegibility. Like a dwarf bunny, it is often confronted with the fact that others consider her helpless and defenseless, but she wants to be valued as a person. Haru tries to keep people at a distance.

A couple of Itagaki began publishing manga in the weekly magazine Akly Shoten Weekly Shōnen Champion from September 8, 2016.
By April 2018, 1.3 million copies of the manga were printed. [2] At the beginning of 2019, 11 volumes were issued.

Anime
In the 10th edition of 2019, Weekly Shōnen Champion announced that Beastars will receive an adaptation in the form of an anime series. The adaptation will take the studio Orange .
Perception
In December 2017, the manga took second place in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi directory ! the best manga of 2018, targeted at a male audience, second only to The Promised Neverland [14] .
Manga won the 11th annual Manga Taisho Award and the New Face Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival in March 2018, [15] in April, the Osamu Tezuki Cultural Award in the New Life category, [16] in May - Award as Best Shonen Manga at the 42nd Annual Kodansha Manga Award . [17]
