Benoitinus elegans (lat.) Is a species of arachnids from the Samoidae family of the order of hayfields , the only one in the genus Benoitinus . Endemic to the Seychelles [1] . It lives in leaf litter [2] .

It is found only in mountainous woodlands on the island of Silhouette , at altitudes from 300 to 770 m above sea level [2] .
The habitat is threatened by invasive plant species, especially cinnamon ( Cinnamomum verum ), and it continues to decline, which is why the IUCN has assigned the species “ Endangered Species ” (CR) to the taxon. On the island of La Digue , where larger areas were overgrown with cinnamon, the species was recognized as extinct [2] .
