The Martoldi Museum (fr. Musée Bartholdi ) [1] is a museum in the city of Colmar , which is dedicated to the life and work of the famous sculptor Auguste Frederic Bartholdi (fr. D'Auguste Bartholdi ). The museum is located in the house where the sculptor was once born [2] , on Kuptsov Street (rue de Marchand) [3] .

History
The Bartholdy Museum is located in the city of Colmar in the house in which the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi was born in 1834 [2] .
A few years after the death of the sculptor, his widow donated to his hometown a house that belonged to the Bartholdi family and in which her husband was born. The house was transferred to the city along with all the property that was in it, including furniture, art objects, and a library. Numerous objects and objects that were stored in the Parisian sculptor’s house were also handed over, including engravings, paintings, collections, so that the memory of the sculptor and his works would be preserved in his native city [4] . The decision to create a museum was made on June 25, 1907 [5] .
The Bartholdy Museum began its work in 1922. Each year, an exhibition is specially organized at the museum, during which drawings and photographs related to the work and work of Auguste Bartholdy are demonstrated [6] .
Museum halls occupy three floors of the house. They are located models of monuments and sculptures created by him, and located in different cities and countries. The museum also has a special place dedicated to the creation of such interesting masterpieces as the Statue of Liberty in New York and the creation of the Belfort lion . The museum has exhibits that relate to residential premises and various family furniture, personal belongings of the artist. The most accurate reconstruction of the sculptor’s Paris apartment is located on the ground floor of the museum. In the waiting room is a portrait of his mother, painted by Parisian artist Ari Schaeffer . On the same floor there is a room in which models are placed that are related to the Belfort lion . The second floor is dedicated to the American works of the artist. There are documents, paintings, photographs, drawings, engravings related to the creation of the Statue of Liberty [6] .
In 1960, the Bartholdy Museum temporarily stopped its work, and again earned in 1979 [4] .
The museum is located south of the church of Saint-Martin . To get to him, you need to go out on the rue de Marchand. On the opposite side of the street is a museum [3] .
The museum is located at 30 rue des Marchands. In January and February, the museum is closed, and it does not work on Tuesdays. From March 1 to December 31, he works from 10 am to 12 am and from 2 pm to 6 pm [2] [3] .
In order to go to the museum, you need to go through the covered passage. Then the visitor will open the courtyard and a bronze statue of Bartholdy "The Great Foundations of the World", which personifies justice, work and homeland. She exhibited in 1902 at the Paris Salon . The main entrance to the museum is located on the right side of the courtyard. The doorway is made in the Renaissance style. The total area of the museum is 700 square meters [5] .
