Samota, Paramjit

Paramjit Samota ( born Paramjeet Samota ; born July 5, 1988 , Danaud Village, Bhiwani District , Haryana , India ) is an Indian boxer performing in the heavy weight category. He was a member of the Indian boxing team, bronze medalist of the Asian Games (2010), champion of the Games of the Commonwealth of Nations (2010), twice a bronze medalist of the Asian Championship (2009, 2011) in amateur.

Amateur career

In June 2009, he won a bronze medal in weight over 91 kg at the Asian Championships in Zhuhai .

In March 2010, at the fifth Commonwealth Boxing Championships in New Delhi , he won a gold medal, defeating New Zealand Joseph Parker on points (7-3) [2] [3] .

In October 2010, he became the champion of heavyweight at the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi ( India ). Then in the first round of the competition he defeated the boxer from Jamaica Andre Reid ahead of schedule, defeated the Australian boxer Alexei Mukhin in the quarterfinal, defeated the New Zealand boxer representing the Kingdom of Tong Junior Fa in the semifinal, and defeated the boxer from Trinulid Thob in the final [ Abinadag Tob 4] [5] .

In November 2010, he won the bronze of the Summer Asian Games held in Guangzhou , then in the quarter-finals he defeated Park Sung Keun, a boxer from the Republic of Korea , but lost ahead of schedule to the Chinese boxer Zhang Zhilei in the semifinals - who eventually became the champion of the Asian Games [6] .

In August 2011, he won a bronze medal in weight up to 91 kg at the Asian Championships in Incheon .

In April 2012, he tried to qualify for the Olympic Games , but in the semi-final on points (12-23) he lost to Syrian boxer Sumar Gossun, and did not get to the Summer Olympic Games in London .
