The Anglo-Arabian horse was the result of crossing the Arabian and English (thoroughbred riding) breeds. It arose in England , Russia and France at the end of the 18th century. At the same time, certain standards of one and the other blood are not persecuted, and therefore it is used in various proportions. An Anglo-Arabian horse may arise in the first cross of an English thoroughbred and an Arabian horse. [one]
Anglo-Arab can also be obtained by crossbreeding a thoroughbred horse and an Anglo-Arabian or an Arabian with an Anglo-Arabian, or Anglo-Arabian with an Anglo-Arabian. The Anglo-Arabian horse does not represent a separate type, even in France, where the cult of these horses was intensively maintained and perfected. In general, the Anglo-Arabian horse is taller than the Arabian and wider, the addition is more harmonious than that of the English horse - this is the influence of the graceful Arab. Like a riding military horse, the Anglo-Arab possesses excellent qualities that have come to him from the primary sources on both sides. In Russia, the breeding of the Anglo-Arabs under the influence of various reasons is falling, the Anglo-Arabian is replaced in our country by a half-breed horse, supported mainly by pure English race blood. [one]
It does not matter how exactly the two breeds are mixed: it is fashionable to cross both a thoroughbred horse in Anglo-Arab and Anglo-Arab with Anglo-Arab. The only relevant requirement today is that at least 25% of Arab blood should be in the individual.
The Anglo-Arabian horse turns out to be stronger than the Arabian one, differs from it in size and in the exterior. Horses from crossbreeding an Arabian stallion and a purebred mare are best obtained, and the best representatives of the Anglo-Arabian breed inherit the stamina and perseverance of an Arab with the agility and versatility of the English horse.

Appearance
The height at the withers of representatives of the breed ranges from 157 to 170 cm.
The most common colors are red, bay or dark bay with white marks.
The structure of the body due to different proportions of blood can vary. But most of all, individuals who are exteriors closer to a thoroughbred riding horse are valued: an intelligent head with an even profile, expressive eyes and alert ears; a long neck with a more pronounced withers than the Arab; strong shoulder; short, strong torso — stronger than that of a thoroughbred horse with a deep chest; rather long croup; strong legs and hooves.
Breed History
The main breeding site of the Anglo-Arabs was France of the XIX century. Their Anglo-Arabian horses came from two eastern stallions - Massoud (Arab) and Aslam (who was supposedly of Turkish origin, according to legend, was a Turkmen breed that does not exist now). The mares with which the stallions were crossed belonged to a purebred horse breed - Dair (Daer), Comus (Comus) and Selim (Selim).
Their three daughters, Delphine (Delphine), Clovis (Clovis) and Danae (Danae), became the founders of the French tribe of sports horses.
The Anglo-Arab was used by the French both in sport and in the army, and later had a strong influence on the breeding of the French riding horse. [2]
The program’s main Anglo-Arabian breeding farm, the Pompadour National Anglo-Arabian Stud Farm, is located in Arnac-Pompadour , a commune of the Correz department in central France , home to the famous Chateau Pompadour. In addition, the region serves as the headquarters of the French National Stud. The Anglo-Arabian breed is the owner of one of the oldest French pedigree books, and the French sel , the country's leading sports horse, still bears the imprint of significant Anglo-Arab influence.
In the past, Anglo-Arab was used for military purposes. However, currently its most famous use is horseback riding and sports. The breed copes well with competitions due to its stamina, speed and jumping abilities. In the United States, an Anglo-Arabian is considered a “partially bred" Arabian horse and is therefore registered in a separate section of the Arabian Horse Association. [3]
