Biography

He was born on October 15, 1935 in the village of Starominskaya in the Azov-Black Sea Territory (now the Krasnodar Territory ), the son of a school teacher. He graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute.

Since 1959 he worked in the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research ( JINR , Dubna ). In 1966 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences.

During this period, he co-authored two scientific discoveries:

  • The formation of the isotope of the one hundred and second element - the Nobelium of the periodic system of Mendeleev. E. D. Donets, V. A. Shchegolev, V. A. Ermakov. Number 34 with priority dated July 9, 1963
  • One hundred and third element is Lawrence. G. N. Flerov, S. M. Polikanov, E. D. Donets, V. A. Druin, Yu. V. Lobanov, V. L. Mikheev, V. A. Shchegolev, A. G. Demin, Yu. C. Short. No. 132 with a priority of April 20, 1965 and August 10, 1967

In 1971 he moved to the High Energy Laboratory, where he headed the sector organized to study ionization processes in a superconducting electron-beam ionizer and to develop a new type of nucleus source for the accelerator complex of LHE. Such a source, called KRION-1, was created and used to conduct physical experiments at the Dubna synchrophasotron.

Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences (1981), dissertation:

  • Electron beam ionization method in atomic physics and accelerator technology: dissertation ... Doctors of physico-mathematical sciences: 01.04.01. - Dubna, 1980 .-- 249 p. : ill.

In 1984, he was approved as a professor.

In the 1990s He completed a series of works, the result of which was the discovery of the phenomenon of "electronic string". These studies are marked by the international Brightness Award, established by the international community of researchers in the field of physics and technology for producing highly charged ions and ion sources.

The participant in the discovery of the 105th element of the periodic system of D.I. Mendeleev - Dubnium , and the synthesis of the 106th transuranium element with short-lived nuclides - Rutherfordium .

Currently (2018) - chief researcher at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, JINR.

Family

The eldest son, Donets, Evgeny Evgenievich - Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics, head of the sector of the laboratory of high energy physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The youngest son, Denis, is an electronic engineer.
