Henry III de Vaudemont

Henry III ( Henri III de Vaudémont ) (d. Between August 30, 1347 and January 21, 1348) - Earl of Vaudemont from 1299. The last representative of the first dynasty that ruled Vaudemont from 1073.

Born approx. 1290 Son of Henry II de Vaudemont and his wife Gelicenta de Vergie. At the time of his father's death, he was still a child, and until adulthood was under the tutelage of his stepfather - France’s constable Gaucher de Chatillon .

In 1305, he invaded the domain of the Duke of Lorraine Thibault II and defeated him at the battles of Remereville and Pullinha. Then they reconciled, and Henry III married his sister Thibault Isabella.

He participated in the battle of Kassel (1328) as part of the army of the French king Philip VI .

Wife (since February 1306) - Isabella of Lorraine (d. 1335), daughter of the Duke of Lorraine Ferry III , widow of Duke Ludwig III of Bavaria (1269-1296). She was at least 10 years older than Henry III, and brought him 10,000 livres of tournais as a dowry. Children:

  • Henry IV (died at the Battle of Crecy in 1346), co-regent of his father
  • Margarita (d. 1355), wife of Anso de Joinville. Their son Henry inherited the county of Vodemon after the death of his grandfather.
