Mashidat Gadzhievna Gairbekova ( December 29, 1927 , village of Karat , Akhvakh district , Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic - November 22, 2015 , Makhachkala , Dagestan ) - Soviet and Russian Avar poetess, folk poetess of Dagestan (1969), prose writer and playwright, public figure. She made a significant contribution to the development of Dagestan and Russian literature.

Biography

She began to compose poetry at an early age and already in her school years she was considered a real poet. Mashidat wrote in Avar and Russian. Graduated from the A. Gorky Literary Institute . Published since 1948. The collections of poems “The Word of the Goryanka” (1952, Russian translation, 1955), “On the Way to the Top” (1958, Russian translation, 1960) truthfully and vividly depict the socialist transformations in the life of Dagestan. Mashidat devoted fiery lines to the theme of peace. The author of the poems “The Distant Sister” (1954), “The Unfinished Letter” (1955), “The White Scarf of the Bride” (1965), “The Punishment for Crime” (1967), “The Daughter of the Red Partisan” (1968), and the play “For Happiness Must Be to fight ”(1958). Friends and admirers of her poetry described Mashidat as a woman who never bent under the weight of fate, did not tolerate hypocrisy and vanity and always followed the code of honor and dignity of a woman, personifying that type of talented, extraordinary bitterness, who throughout her life remained faithful to the principles of mountain "Antiquity" and true Uzdenstvo. In the last decades of her life, Mashidat Gairbekova wrote on historical topics. She was interested in the personality of Imam Shamil , his naibs, murids.

Activities

From 1969 to 1975 Mashidat Gadzhievna was the head of the Avar Musical Drama Theater. G. Tsadas. [1] .

She was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR .

Mashidat Gadzhievna passed away on November 22, 2015 at the 88th year of life. [2]
