The house of the forestry scientist Baum is a building in Alma-Ata , built for the prominent scientist and landscaper of the city of Verny , Eduard Baum .

Content
History
Eduard Baum arrived in Verny in 1875. By his order, Pavel Matveyevich Zenkov in 1880 built a house, now known as the house of the forest archer Baum. He lived in this house until his death in 1921. During this time, Eduard Ottonovich laid the many green zones that still exist in Alma-Ata (for example, Baum's grove ). [one]
Near the house there was a large garden, the harvest of which E.O. Baum gave to the orphanage . [2]
In 1927, the heirs of the house, the niece of E. Savelyev and her husband, were evicted, and the house and the estate with a garden were nationalized. Gradually, the garden near Baum’s house was demolished in connection with the development of the quarter by residential buildings (Seifullin Ave., Kabanbai Batyr St., Amangeldy St., Dzhambul St.). Later, the Almaty Regional Council for Tourism and Excursions was located in the building.
After Kazakhstan gained independence, the building housed the consular offices of Kyrgyzstan . [2]
Architecture
Baum's house is an example of wooden architecture and was built in the “Ropetovskiy” style from the logs of the Tien Shan fir. This is a cross-shaped one-story wooden structure with a basement and a mezzanine, mounted on a brick basement. The arrangement of rooms in the house is enfilade. Entrance areas are underlined along the central axis of the north and south facades. There are balconies on the facades of the mezzanine. [four]
Monument Status
On November 10, 2010, the new State List of Monuments of History and Culture of Local Significance of the city of Almaty was approved, at the same time all previous decisions on this subject were invalidated [5] . In this Decree, the status of the monument of local importance of the Baum House building was retained. The boundaries of protected areas were approved in 2014 [6] .
