Biography
Born in 1907 in Laviron, France. After receiving secondary education, he entered the monastery of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. After the end of the Mission Seminary in Chevilly-Larue on July 3, 1938, he was ordained deacon and on September 29, 1938, the priest.
On April 9, 1948, Pope Pius XII appointed him the Apostolic Vicar of Bangui and the titular Bishop of Stratonicea of Caria. On July 25, 1948, he was ordained bishop by the titular archbishop and apostolic vicar Yaounde Rene Marie Graffen, accompanied by the titular bishop of Temisonium and the apostolic vicar of Douala, Pierre Marie Alfonso Bonno and the titular bishop Auraqui Viktor Apriktor Vikors ap Aprik .
On September 14, 1955, Pope Pius XII issued the bull Dum tantis , which elevated the apostolic vicar of Bangui to the rank of archdiocese, and Joseph Kusheruss became its first archbishop.
Participated in the Second Vatican Council .
