Yukhary-Kasil ( azerb. Yuxarı Qəsil ) is a village in the Yukhary-Kasil administrative-territorial district of the Agdash region of Azerbaijan .

Content
Etymology
The name comes from the words “yukhara” (from Azeri - “upper”) and “Kasil” (oikonym). The name means “Verniy Kasil”, as the village is located above the villages of Ashagi Kasil (Lower Kasil) and Orta Kasil (Middle Kasil).
The former name of the village is Casil. The name, according to one version, comes from the Turkic word “Ghasil”, meaning “hollow, pit” [1] , and according to another, from “cough”, meaning pasture [2] .
History
The village of Kasil in 1913 according to the administrative-territorial division of the Elizabethpol province belonged to the Uchkovakhsky rural community of Areshsky district [3] .
In 1926, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Azerbaijan SSR, the village belonged to the dacra Lyaki of the Geokchay district.
After the reform of the administrative division and the abolition of counties in 1929, the Kasil village council was formed in the Agdash region of the Azerbaijan SSR .
According to the administrative division of 1961 and 1977, the village of Yukhary-Kasil was part of the Kasil village council of the Agdash region of the Azerbaijan SSR [4] [5] .
In 1999, administrative reform was carried out in Azerbaijan and the Yukhary-Kasil municipality of the Agdash region was established within the Kasil administrative-territorial district [6] .
Geography
Yukhary-Kasil is located on the right bank of the Turianchay river.
The village is located 4 km from the Agdash district center and 235 km from Baku . The nearest railway station is Lyaki.
The village is located at an altitude of 54 meters above sea level.

In 1886, 515 people lived in the village, all of them were Azerbaijanis, by religion - Sunni Muslims.
The population is mainly engaged in vegetable growing, grain growing, coconut farming and animal husbandry.

In Soviet times, the village housed a secondary school, a library, a kindergarten, a medical center [9] .
