Isabella French (Dauphin Vienne)

Isabella of France, Dauphin Vienne (1312 - April 1348) is the third daughter of King Philip V of France and Jeanne of Burgundy . Wife of Dauphin Viennoy Gigue VIII de La Tour du Pan [1] .

Life

When Isabella was only two years old, her mother was placed under house arrest due to suspicions of treason. Jeanne was released the following year because her husband, Philip, refused to divorce her. Her aunt Blanca of Burgundy, along with another aunt Margarita of Burgundy, was imprisoned in the Chateau-Gaillard fortress in 1314.

In 1316, her father became king of France. In the same year, she became engaged to Dauphin Viennoy Gigue VIII . In 1322, her young king father died, which became a grief for the whole family. Although 11-year-old Isabella was still in mourning, she married in 1323 [1] . The marriage was childless.

Gig was killed during the siege of the castle of Savoy, Perrier in 1333. He left Dauphiné to his brother Umbert II . He was buried in Saint-André in Grenoble .

In 1335, Isabella married Jean III, Lord Foconi [2] . She became a widow for the second time when Jean died in 1345; this marriage was also childless. Isabella herself died of Black Death in April 1348.
