Biography

Dorothea Mikhailovna Shemyakina was born on May 9, 1964 in Leningrad, in the family of artists Mikhail Shemyakin and Rebecca Modlen. She received art education from her parents, who helped her daughter from early childhood to show the gift of a draftsman.

In the summer of 1971, Dorothea and her mother emigrated . At the invitation of the gallery owner and singer Dina Verni, they arrived in France and settled in her country house [1] . Five months later, Mikhail Shemyakin, expelled from the USSR, joined them.

In 1983, Dorothea Shemyakin moved to Greece (the first time they lived with their mother on the island of Idra ). Since 1986, she has lived in Athens . In recent years, she has lived in France near her father’s house.

She died on January 20 in 2018 from a severe form of diabetes [2] .

Creative life

In total, Dorothea Shemyakina hosted five personal exhibitions [3] :

She has also participated in more than twenty group exhibitions; often in a creative alliance with his father. Below are some of them:
