Arsenievo-Maslyanskaya Odigitrievskaya Deserts

Arsenievo-Maslyanskaya Odigitrievskaya Deserts - the former male monastery community near Vologda .

The beginning of the desert dates back to 1610, when, according to legend, a chapel was erected on the Babayke river in the Maslyanskaya volost of the Vologda district of the Vologda province . After 1613, Artemy Loginov, who had a vision of the chapel three times before its construction, submitted a petition to Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich with a request to allow priests from the nearest churches to serve prayers in the newly-found chapel of Hodegetria. Having tonsured monasticism with the name Arseny, he built a church near the chapel. In 1622, in addition to the church and chapel, there were 5 cells in the territory of the Arsenyev-Maslyanskaya desert. Arseny, the first builder of the desert, ruled the community until his death and in 1646 he was succeeded by Father Superior Daniel. In 1690, two wooden churches stood on the desert territory: the cold Odigitrievskaya church with the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the gateway of the Rizopolozhenskaya church.

In the 18th century, deserts were assigned to the Spaso-Prilutsky monastery . In 1732 there were only two monks in it. In 1747, instead of the dilapidated, a new Odigitrievskaya church was built [1] . In 1764, the desert, in which the builder and 3 belts lived, was abolished; The Hodegetria Church was assigned to the Boris-Gleb Maslyanskaya Church. In 1784, the parishioners built a warm Ascension Church here.

In the 19th century, in 1819, churches were assigned to the Vologda Cathedral. In 1822, the Synod decided: to leave the warm Ascension Church behind the cathedral, and destroy the cold, dilapidated Odigitrievskaya Church, and its clergy to remain in place until the death of an elderly priest. In 1844, the Ascension Church was again assigned to the Boris-Gleb Maslyanskaya Church, and a new one was built instead of the dilapidated (and not destroyed) Hodegetria Church; landowner Kokoshkin hired two old state priests and paid them a salary. In 1858, the Ascension Church burned down from a warm thunderstorm; in 1859, a warm Nicholas chapel was added to the cold Odigitrievskaya church. In 1861, the Arseniyo-Maslyanskaya Desert was assigned to the Holy Spirit Monastery . In 1883, a bell tower was added to the Hodegetria Church. In 1890, a new wooden chapel on a stone foundation was built over the relics of the founder of the monk Arseny and the first hieromonk Innocent.

In 1910, a wooden fence was erected with 4 corner towers and 4 gates from all sides. In 1916, the Odigitrievskaya Church was located on the desert territory with the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and a chapel. There were three residential buildings: for workers (built in 1897), for monks - with a kitchen, refectory and prosphora (built in 1899), for pilgrims (built in 1912). The territory of the desert and the adjacent arable land, meadows and forest covered an area of 272 tithes .

After the 1917 revolution, the desert was closed; in 1918, the Sychevsky executive committee was located here, and four communist families lived. The last institution in the former desert is the Chebsar Orphanage. Currently, there are no buildings left on the territory of the former Arsenievo-Maslyanskaya Odigitrievskaya desert.

Notes

  1. ↑ In 1749, the future Russian philosopher Andrei Mikhailovich Bryantsev was born here in the family of a church minister.
