Orbit and classification

An asteroid of spectral class S , belongs to the Flora family, one of the largest groups of stone asteroids in the Main belt. The object revolves around the Sun in the inner part of the asteroid belt at a distance of 1.8–2.6 AU with a period of 3 years and 4 months (1212 days). The orbit has an eccentricity of 0.17 and an inclination relative to the plane of the ecliptic 5 °. [2] The asteroid was first observed as a 1954 QF object at the Heidelberg Observatory in 1954. The asteroid observation arc begins with an official discovery in 1974. [5]

Physical Characteristics

Photometric observations at the Palomar Transient Factory in December 2011 yielded a fragmented light curve . Estimation of the rotation period is 11.0942 ± 0.0116 hours with a low brightness amplitude of 0.08 magnitude. [3] The Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link database contains an albedo of 0.24 — the value for the asteroid (8) Flora , the largest representative in its family — and calculated a diameter of 3.7 km. Title

The minor planet was named after the Soviet writer Alexei Nikolayevich Tolstoy (1883–1945). [6] The name was officially published by the Minor Planet Center on October 19, 1994 ( MPC 24121) . [7]
