Biography
Born in June 1885 at the Nedvigovka farm of the Don Army, now Myasnikovsky District of the Rostov Region . Soon the Chentsov family moved to Rostov-on-Don , where Ivan began working as a locksmith.
Since the fall of 1902, he began to engage in revolutionary activity, having received the first task, together with Vitaly Sabinin, to distribute leaflets of the Doncom calling for a strike. From that moment, Ivan Chentsov became a participant in the revolutionary actions of the workers of Rostov. He became a member of the RSDLP (b) in 1904, carried out Bolshevik agitation in the working environment, and was chairman of the Union of Metalworkers. During the December armed uprising of 1905 in Rostov-on-Don, Chentsov was the leader of the fighting squad of the Don Committee of the RSDLP, consisting of workers, participated in the seizure of the station and the disarmament of the gendarmes. For revolutionary activity in 1905-1906, Chentsov was brought to justice together with S. F. Vasilchenko , N. V. Lysenko, L. G. Avksentiev. May 16, 1906 he was arrested and was in Rostov prison. On December 20, 1907 he was sentenced to four years in prison, was held in Novocherkassk prison until December 20, 1911. Once at large, he again established contacts with the Bolsheviks and took part in the work of the Rostov-Nakhichevan Bolshevik organization, continuing his work in the Union of Metalworkers.
After the February Revolution of 1917, Chentsov was elected to the Council of Workers 'and Soldiers' Deputies and became a member of its executive committee, worked in the Rostov-Nakhichevan Committee of the RSDLP (b), in the summer of the same year he participated in the creation of labor squads. He created the first squad at the Iron Foundry (later Radiator Plant, which entered the Rostovsantekhnika association in 1975), he was appointed chief of the Central Headquarters of the Red Guard of Rostov created by the Bolsheviks and was a member of the regional Military Revolutionary Committee. He was a member of the October Revolution , in 1917-1918 he was a member of the Don Regional Military Revolutionary Committee and was appointed commissar to the office of the military commander. Ivan Dmitrievich Chentsov was a delegate to the X-XIV, XVI and XVII [2] party congresses and a member of the North Caucasus Regional Committee of the CPSU (b), the Rostov City Committee and the Nakhichevan District Party Committee, a deputy of the regional and city Soviets of Workers' Deputies; He was a delegate to the VIII and IX All-Russian Congresses of Soviets, where he was elected to the All-Russian Central Executive Committee. For a long time he was at party and Soviet work, was involved in the construction of Rostselmash (was a member of the board of Selmashstroy), heading the energy department in the North Caucasus .
In 1934, the public of Rostov-on-Don celebrated the 30th anniversary of I. D. Chentsov’s stay in the party, shortly before that he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for his work in Azcherenergo. Three years later, Chentsov was removed from all party, Soviet and economic posts, expelled from the party, and shot in 1937 as an enemy of the people. [1] The place of his burial is unknown. In 1963, Chentsov’s relatives installed black marble stone at the Bratskoye cemetery . This symbolic grave lasted 30 years, and when his wife Raisa Emanuilovna died, a tombstone was placed over her burial place in the Northern cemetery of Rostov-on-Don. [3]
On April 17, 1956, the military prosecutor of the North Caucasus Military District, Major General of Justice V. Israel, dismissed the case against Chentsov “for lack of corpus delicti” and completely rehabilitated him. [3]
Memory
- His name was given to the radiator factory in Rostov-on-Don (since 1975 - the Rostovsantekhnika production association).
