Club
He started playing football at the age of 7 with coach Nurzhan Desembaev. In the city’s winter futsal tournament of 1997 he was recognized as the best player and in the spring of 1997 he was declared for the main team of Semipalatinsk - “ Elimai ” [3] . In his first season he spent 10 games and scored a goal. And in the next 19-year-old defender scored five goals in 23 matches and helped the team become the country's champion. He was invited to the lost Pavlodar " Irtysh ". Smakov helped Pavlodar to regain the championship title and at the age of 21 he became the two-time champion of Kazakhstan.
The middle peasant of the top division of Russia, the Rostov Rostselmash , signed a three-year contract with him in 2000. For two seasons, Smakov spent 39 games in the Russian championship, but then ceased to fit into the plans of the new coach Anatoly Baydachny and went on loan to the Zhenis Astana. In summer, he broke his leg in training and the 2002 season he practically disappeared, but in June, in the Kazakhstan Cup, he played two games in the 1/8 finals with Atyrau and scored a goal. In November, the team without him won the final against the Pavlodar " Irtysh ".
He spent the 2003 season in his native Elimai , restoring his form.
In the 2004 season, Smakov signed a three-year contract with the Almaty Kairat . He was chosen as the team captain, the club immediately won gold medals, and FFK named Smakov the best football player of the year. The club reached the finals of the Kazakhstan Football Cup twice in a row in 2004 and 2005. In 2005 he took the bronze of the championship, but in 2006 took only 7th place.
In the spring of 2007, Smakov moved to Aktobe . Here began the six-year successful phase of his football career. For three years in a row (2007-2009), Vladimir Mukhanov’s club became the champion of Kazakhstan, and captain Smakov was called the best football player of the FFK country (2007-2008) and the Gol magazine (2007-2009) three times. “Aktobe” won the Cup of Kazakhstan - 2008, the Super Cup of Kazakhstan (2008, 2010), reached the finals of the Champions Cup of the Commonwealth (2009, 2010). In 2010, he won the silver of the championship, and in 2011-2012 - two bronzes. At this time, the head coach of the team Vladimir Mukhanov left for Russia.
In January 2013, Smakov, at the invitation of the Turkish coach Mustafa Denizli, signed a six-month contract with the Turkish First League club Rizespor , although he lost twice in salary.

An experienced coach and two legionnaires from Kazakhstan, Smakov and David Loria, brought the club to the Turkish Super League . Smakov was recognized as the best defender of the First League of Turkey in the 2012/13 season [5] .
In the summer of 2013, Smakov returned to Kairat. On January 4, 2018, it became known that Smakov is completing a gaming career and becoming the general director of the Aktobe club [11] .
