Church of the Holy Spirit ( German: Heiliggeistkirche ) - a Protestant church in the center of Bern , on Bahnhofplatz ; got its name from the Order of the Hospitallers of the Holy Spirit . The decision to build was made in 1725 and, after a series of changes in the designs of the architect Albrecht Stürler, the building was laid in 1726 and opened in November 1729. Until 1865, the Christoffelturm bell tower stood to the west of the church.
