History
The Russians appeared in Altai in the middle of the 17th century; those who fled could not find a common language with the authorities: convicts, soldiers, Old Believers, dissatisfied with Nikon's reforms. Entire villages appeared in which people lived who did not recognize laws and power. Subsequently, a whole society of free masons was formed. Only in 1792 during the reign of Catherine II, the requirements of freethinkers were satisfied - they were accepted in 1792, they were pardoned and imposed on a small “yasak” (tax levied on “foreigners”). [four]
Lower Uimon was formed in the 20-30s of the XIX century. Near Lake Chanov, a settlement was created by immigrants from Kainsky Uyezd (Tomsk and Novo-Nikolaevskaya volost). The exact date is not defined. Some sources indicate 1820, while others - 1826.
The first settlers were: Yakov, Timofei, Sergey, Alexander and Nikifor Oshlykov, Fedor Perevalov, Silverst Konovalov and Ivan Zmanovsky. Then they were joined by the Ognevs, Podkorytovs, Mogilnikovs and others.
In Nizhny Uymon in 1859 there were about a hundred men and 87 women, there were 50 yards. A schismatic chapel was also established here. And by 1882, there were already 77 yards. According to administrative division, the village was attributed to the Smolensk peasant volost, located near the city of Biysk.
Maral husbandry appeared in the 60s of the XIX century and Nizhny Uimon became one of the three main points of Altai maral husbandry. There was a brisk trade in antlers with China. [five]
At the beginning of the 20th century, Lower Uimon and its 127 yards are ranked as Katandinsky volost. With the advent of Soviet power, Lower Uimon passes into the possession of the Uimon aimak, with a center in the village of Katanda. Then the Lower Uimon State Farm was formed.
Created deer farms totaled about three thousand deer. [6]
During the years of World War II, the Lower Uimon State Farm, helping the front, over almost the entire period of military operations exceeded the daily output norm.
