Geography
Neighboring settlements: in the north - the village of Leino of the commune of Panschwitz-Kukau , in the east - the village of Cheshkecy of the Göda community, in the south - the village of Paneci , in the west - the village of Mali-Wosyk and in the northwest - the village of Chasetsy of the commune of Panschwitz-Kukau [2] .
The village is not included in the official Luzhitsky settlement area .
History
First mentioned in 1365 under the name Uskewicz [3] . For six hundred years it belonged to the Marienstern Nunnery [4] .
From 1957 to 1994, it was part of the Kleinhenchen commune. Since 1994, it has been part of the modern commune of Burkau [5] .

Population
The official language in the village, in addition to German , is also Upper Luzhsky .
According to the statistical work “Dodawki k statisticy a etnografiji łužickich Serbow” by Arnost Muki in 1884, 56 people lived in the village (52 of them were Serbluzhichans (93%)) [7] .
The Luzhitsky demographer Arnosht Chernik, in his work Die Entwicklung der sorbischen Bevölkerung, indicates that in 1956, with a total population of 82 people, the Serbluzhitsky population of the village was 14.6% (7 of them were fluent in the Upper Luzhitsky language, 5 passively) [8 ] .
