History
When, after the campaign of the Argentine army to expel the Indians, which went down in history as “ Desert Conquest ”, these lands came under the control of the Argentine government, a territorial dispute arose between Chile and Argentina: Argentina believed that the border between the countries should go along the line of the highest mountain peaks, and Chile - that of the watershed. In 1902, the British arbitration recognized this territory as belonging to Argentina, and in 1903 the government organized the Colony-Nauel-Uapi here.
For a long time, due to poor transport accessibility, these territories had almost no connection with the rest of the country, and when Minister of War Agustin Pedro Justo made a trip here in 1928, he promised that there would be a radio station in Correntoso (that was the name of the place). The wireless telegraph post was inaugurated in 1932, and local authorities took advantage of this to announce the renaming of the village, which they decided to name in honor of Justo. However, Justo himself, learning about this, asked not to do this, and then the settlement was called "La Angostura".
