History

The building was built over the period 1907-1908, according to the design of the military engineer N. Simonov. The mansion was a residential residence of the commandant of the Vladivostok fortress, General Vladimir Alexandrovich Irmanov . In 1923, the building was transferred to the Housing Fund and was used as an apartment building [1] .

Architecture

The building is two-story brick, small in size. It has a characteristic volumetric art style developed volumetric composition in the form of a combination of three different-sized shapes embedded in each other: one in the form of an elliptical half-ton, two in a rectangular shape. The building is located on a gentle slope and its forms seem to β€œflow down” along the relief, gradually opening up to the eye of an observer walking along the street. On the north side, the composition is cut off by a flat brick firewall wall separating the mansion from adjacent households. The main entrance to the building is located on the southern facade, perpendicular to the street, in this regard, the author of the project reveals the direction to the entrance by the curved surface of the wall and the porch, which has an elliptical outline in plan. The volumetric shape of the building is emphasized by thin horizontal bands with dividing facades with molded ornaments of the β€œIonic” type and the outline of a high cornice. The windows are often used in the Art Nouveau style and are elliptical and rectangular, with silted corners [1] .
