Ilya Mikhailovich Kazantsev (born and the death of a non-famous. ~ XIX century) - Russian ethnographer, researcher of Kazakhstan. In the 1830-1850s. worked in the border office of the Orenburg and Samara governor-generals. Member of the Russian Geographical Society . He studied the history and ethnography of the Orenburg Kazakhs of the Younger Zhuz , their clan composition, origin and relationship with the Russians. In 1838, in the " St. Petersburg Gazette " published an article about the Kazakhs of the Inner or Bokey Horde and the functioning of their baryms . He gave valuable information about the customs of the Kazakhs , their hospitality, rituals associated with the birth of a child and with the migration, the history of the occurrence and the meaning of the term “Kyrgyz-kaisaki”.
