Spittwitz or Spytitsy ( German: Spittwitz ; w.-puddle. Spytecy ) is a village in Upper Lusatia , Germany . It is part of the Göda commune of the Bautzen district in Saxony . Submits to the administrative district of Dresden .

Geography

Neighboring settlements: in the northeast - the village of Malá Prague , in the east - the village of Zemikhov , in the south - the village of Nové Spytetsy, in the southwest - the village of Českéci , in the southwest - the village of Chervene-Noslitsy of the commune Demic-Tumitz , in the west is the village of Hanets of the commune Demit-Tumitz and in the north-west is the village of Lyutyyets [2] .

History

First mentioned in 1374 under the name Spetewicz [3] .

Until 1974, it was the administrative center of the Spittits commune with the settlements of Novy Spytetsy, Skala and Lyutyyetsy . Since 1974, enters the modern commune of Göda [4] .

Currently, the village is part of the cultural-territorial autonomy " Luzhitsky Settlement Region ", on whose territory there are legislative acts of the lands of Saxony and Brandenburg, which contribute to the preservation of Lusatian languages and the culture of Luzhich [5] [6] .

Population

The official language in the village, in addition to German , is also Upper Luzhk language .

According to the statistical work “Dodawki k statisticy a etnografiji łužickich Serbow” by Arnoš Muki in 1884 in Pittschwitz together with the village of Neuspitpitvice, which was part of it, 305 people lived (277 of them were Serbulau residents (91%) [8] .

Luzhitsky demographer Arnošt Chernik in his work “Die Entwicklung der sorbischen Bevölkerung” indicates that in 1956, with a total number of 502 people, the village’s population in Arbat was 9% (of which 30 people were active in Upper Leningrad, 4 were passive, and 11 minors owned the language ) [9] .
