History
The oldest settlement in the upper reaches of the Rio Negro River . When the Argentine army launched a campaign that went down in history as “ Desert Conquest ”, on June 4, 1879, Fort Cicinal was founded here, around which a settlement began to grow. After the construction was completed in 1916, conditions were created for the economic development of the region. In 1928, a 130-kilometer canal reached these sites, the construction of which was carried out by engineer . In 1935, the governor created a commission to raise the administrative level, and in 1957 a municipality was formed.
