Xue Chen

Xue Chen ( Chinese 薛 晨 ; born February 18, 1989, Fuzhou ) is a Chinese volleyball player ( beach volleyball ). World Champion 2013 , bronze medalist of the 2008 Olympic Games .

Career

She was engaged in basketball as a child, but she soon left this sport. From 10 to 13 years old she was engaged in volleyball in the hall, at the age of 14 she first tried her hand at beach volleyball and subsequently remained in it. [1] Since 2000, she has been involved in volleyball at the Fuzhou Sports School; since 2002, she began to be involved in China's beach volleyball teams for children and youth. In the series of the World Tour (Swatch-FIVB World Tour) debuted in 2005. [2]

In early 2006, Xue became the youngest beach volleyball player to ever win a professional tournament in this sport, at the time she won the final of the China Shanghai Jinshan Open tournament - on May 28, 2006 she was 17 years old [3]

Later in 2006, Xue and Zhang Xi won a gold medal in the women's team event at the 2006 Asian Games . The couple also won a bronze medal in women's beach volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics . [four]

The couple continued their successful performances in 2010, including the second time they won the Grand Slam tournament in Moscow. Following they won the finals of the FIVB World Tour in Finland. [5] In 2009, they won a gold medal at the Asian Beach Volleyball Championships in Haikou, China, and defended their title in 2010.

Xue and Zhang represented China at the 2012 Olympics in London, where they finished fourth.

In 2013, at the World Championships in the Polish city of Stare Jablonki, the couple won the world champion title [6] .
