Biography
Born in the city of Alma-Ata in the family of front-line soldier Adilov Makei [1] and housewife Adilova (Satova) Dzhumagyz. With the outbreak of World War II, his father volunteered for the labor front, then in the army. In 1943 he was seriously injured. He returned home in 1944 with a disabled person of the first group and died in 1951.
Study
Adilov Zheksenbek graduated from high school number 75 of the city of Alma-Ata. In school years he was fond of exact sciences mathematics and physics. After leaving school in 1967 he entered the Civil Engineering Department of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute. V.I. Lenin. In 1972 he graduated with honors from the institute and received the qualification of Civil Engineer. He graduated from full-time postgraduate study at the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute. V.V. Kuybysheva and defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate and doctor of sciences.
Scientific and pedagogical activity
Adilov Zh. M. is one of the founders in Kazakhstan of research on the problems of developing the theoretical foundations of managing complex socio-economic systems in order to switch to a model of sustainable development and laid the foundation for the practical implementation of the results in the real sector of the economy and in the field of education.
His pedagogical activity was aimed at introducing a new model of the educational system of the 21st century, which combined a positive past and present and focused on the formation of high-quality human capital.
Public Service
In 2000, Adilov Zh. M. was invited to work as a consultant to the World Bank on the project "Creating a National Center for the Training of Civil Servants" at the Agency for Civil Service Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the same time, he worked as the head of the course “Public Administration” at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2001, he was accepted into the civil service as a director of the Department for Monitoring and Control of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and later on as a director of the Department of State Inspection and Informatization of Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
J. Adilov focused on improving the quality of training of civil servants, modernizing the education sector, introducing IT technologies, improving the quality of education and integrating into the global educational space.
Rector's career
The talent of J. Adilov as a teacher and organizer of higher education was fully revealed during his work as rector of the Semipalatinsk State University named after Shakarima (2004-2008), and then the rector of the Kazakh National Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev.
All his activities were aimed at modernizing the system of higher education, in the first place - at the development of engineering education. New training programs based on the principles of advanced education, training through science, strategic partnerships with leading international and domestic companies, the elite of students and the social responsibility of the university to society were developed.
Under his leadership, new technical specialties were opened for the republic, unique engineering laboratories were created. As a result, funding for research and development and the implementation of research results in the real sector of the economy has significantly increased.
All these measures made it possible to successfully implement in KazNTU a program of transforming a university into a research type university and in 2015 to create the country's first scientific-educational and innovation-production complex in the field of engineering and technology - Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K. I. Satpayev.

Public position
Zh. M. Adilov was elected Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of its Department of Earth Sciences (2009-2016), was a member of the All-Russian Scientific Technical Center (Higher Scientific and Technical Commission) under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He actively participates in the political and public life of the country, is a member of the Nur Otan party, three times was a member of the republican headquarters of the candidate for President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was elected as a deputy of the East Kazakhstan regional maslikhat, where he was Chairman of the Commission on Economics, Budget and Regional Development. He is an Honorary Citizen of Tucson (USA). Created and leads the work of the Tengri Charity Fund.
Personal qualities and hobbies
He likes to travel, especially driving a car, traveled all over Kazakhstan, as well as a number of foreign countries, enjoys reading literature and hunting.
