Biography

Born May 16, 1974 in the Italian city of Faenza [1] . Her father was a singer, keyboard player and bass player and dreamed that her daughter would become a singer. As a teenager, she began performing with him in bars and cafes, and on the last evening of 1986, she first appeared on stage alone. At that time, she sang songs from the repertoire of Streisand , Fitzgerald , Turner , Lisa Minnelli and Piaf , but by the age of 15 she began to sing mainly Italian songs. In 1991 , at the insistence of her father, she took part in a music competition in the city of Castrocaro , where producers Angelo Valsillo and Marco Marati paid attention to her, offering to record several songs, including “La Solitudine”, with which the girl went to the festival in San Remo in 1993 won the competition for young performers, and in 1994 took third place in the competition of famous singers of this festival.

Warner offered her a record deal, and soon her first album, “Laura Pausini,” was released, which ended up being sold in 2 million copies. The second doubled this figure - 4 million copies in 37 countries of the world, such is the circulation of the Laura disc, published two years later. According to publishers of Billboard magazine, she became one of the most striking breakthroughs of the year, only slightly losing to Mariah Carey .

In 1995, a Spanish-language album was released, which was a squeeze of the first two. It sold in Spain in a million copies, another million were sold in other countries. A year later, the album "Le cose che vivi" was recorded, in which the London Symphony Orchestra was involved. The disc was recorded in Italian and Spanish with special bonuses in Portuguese for the Brazilian market. In the same year, the singer went on her first international tour.

The next record was again released in two versions - in Spanish and Italian. It was called “La mia Risposta” and was sold in 50 countries. One of the songs was written specially for her by Phil Collins .

In the summer of 1999, she embarked on a European tour, recorded a song for the soundtrack for the film “ Message in a Bottle ” and took part in the concert “ Pavarotti and Friends” in Modena . A year later, her next album “Tra te e il Mare” appeared on sale, four times nominated for Latin Grammy. By the end of 2001, more than 3 million copies of this album were sold. In July 2002, she released her first English album, “From the Inside”. While working on the disc in the US, the singer had disagreements with the management of the record company Atlantic Records. The main reason for the quarrels was the album’s incorrect PR and careless attitude to its sales, which forced her to cancel the contract in the USA and return to her native Italy. Nevertheless, the first single from the album - “Surrender”, turned out to be very successful, and the sale of the disc exceeded the mark of 700,000 copies. In the spring of 2004, she recorded the album Resta in Ascolto, which was released in Italian and Spanish. The album sold over 1,000,000 copies and was nominated for the prestigious Grammy Award in 2005. In November 2006, she released the album " Io canto ", which sold over 2,350,000 copies. The single of the same name from the album held the first positions in the charts of Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Brazil for the first 3 weeks.

In June 2007, the singer gave a concert at the Milan Stadium in support of the album, whose performance came to see 70,000 residents of Italy. Then there were concerts with the Io canto program in Europe and Latin America. In October 2007, she won a Grammy statuette in two categories - “Best Singer of the Year” and “Best Album of the Year”.

Presumably, at the same time, her famous duet “Dare to live” with Andrea Bocelli came out. With him, she gave a number of performances in the United States, in January 2008. In August 2008, the singer released a duet called "Todo vuelve a Empezar". The duet, recorded with a young Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi , instantly topped the charts of Italy and Spain. In November 2008, she released her next solo album, entitled "Primavera In Anticipo", and in Spanish "Primavera anticipada".

In support of the music disc “Primavera In Anticipo” / “Primavera anticipada”, in the spring of 2009, the singer launched a new tour that covered Italy, several countries of Europe and Scandinavia, the USA and Latin America. In November 2009, the Italian singer received the 3rd Latin Grammy Award for Best Female Album - Primavera In Anticipo / Primavera anticipada. At the same time, the singer's live album was released, which included songs from her 2009 tour.

On January 15, 2010, the singer announced on her official website that she was stopping concert activity until 2012. The reason for this was the lack of time for personal life. February 8, she became a mother. She gave birth to a daughter, whom she named Paola.
