Jabuns [1] ( lat. Opsanus ) is a genus of marine ray-finned fish from the Batrachoididae family. Representatives of the genus are common in the western part of the Atlantic Ocean . Body length varies from 12.6 to 43.2 cm [2] . These are bottom predatory fish waiting for prey in ambush.

Description
The skin is bare. Three side lines . In the first dorsal fin there are three spiny rays, and in the second dorsal fin there are 23–27 soft rays. In the anal fin there are 19-23 soft rays. Small ventral fins are located in front of the pectoral fins.
Males guard the laying of caviar. Able to make sounds using the swim bladder .

- Opsanus dichrostomus collette , 2001
- Opsanus pardus (Goode & Bean, 1880)
- Opsanus phobetron Walters & CR Robins , 1961
- Opsanus tau ( Linnaeus , 1766)
In 2005, a new species of Opsanus brasiliensis from the coastal waters of Brazil was described [3] . However, it was later shown that this species was erroneously described as a new species and is synonymous with O. beta [4] .
