Company History

1923-1925

In 1923, one of the first factories producing art paints and varnishes, Fratelli Maimeri, opened in Italy. The company was founded on a combination of the artistic interest and talent of the painter Gianni Maymery (1884 - 1951) [1] and knowledge in the field of chemistry of his brother Carlo Maymery (1886 - 1957). Then, on January 27, 1925, Meimeri became a joint-stock company whose shares belonged to the founders of the company, as well as Giovanni Tikozzi and Baron Silvio Prato.

1925-1929

Soon the first series of oil paints, Series A, was launched onto the market. The economic crisis of 1929, which caused the financial problems of the Company, became the reason for the merger with Sante Faccini. Production was continued under the brand name F.lli Maimeri & C.

1929-1937

From the 1929 Economic Crisis to the outbreak of World War II, F.lli Maimer produced and distributed five different series of oil, tempera and watercolor paints, powder pigments for artists, as well as about 25 types of auxiliary products (varnishes, oils, essences) throughout the country. , products and thinners) and many other accessories. Thanks to the protectionist regime, the Italian chemical industry flourished, as did the new company Maimeri. In 1936, the company had to leave the old Blondel Mill, which became too small for growing production volumes.

1945-1951

During the war, the plant did not stop production. Moreover, the lack of strong competition led to increased sales. In 1951, Gianni Mimeri died. His last significant invention was the formula Maimeri tempera grassa, the likeness of which was used many centuries ago by great masters. The difference was the addition of chemical ingredients to the paint [2] .

1952-1980

The death of Gianni Mimery caused significant changes in the structure of the company's share capital. In the 1950s, Leone Mameri succeeded in expanding industrial production in the field of graphic design and advertising, in scenery and hobbies, which grew sharply in Italy. Consequently, from the 1960s to the 70s, new lines were created for specific artistic methods. Growing demand and new production rates have led the company to seek more space. So, a new factory was built in 1969 on a plot of land in Bettolino, in the municipality of Medilla .

1980-1989

In the 1980s, young Amator Marchesa, in charge of the laboratory and production, joined Maimeri. Amator’s solid position remains to this day: the concept of the tetrahedron, conceived by the founder of the company, should have remained untouched.

1990-1999

In 1984, F.lli Maimeri became a limited liability company (Ltd). In the 1990s, the ambitious Gianni Maymery Jr., the grandson of the company’s founder and currently its CEO, joined Maimeri. He set himself high goals to increase market influence and product distribution around the world. In 1996, Gianni also began to promote the creation of Fondazione Maimeri [3] with the intention of making the company’s founder more widely known, encouraging his studies in the field of color and company history, as well as promoting the activities of young artists and culture in general.

2000 - today

Since March 31, 2014, Maimeri has been a member of the FILA Group , which remains today [4] .
