History

On November 9, 2018, the co-chairman of the Opposition Bloc, Yuriy Boyko, and the new party of Rabinovich , For Life , signed an agreement on cooperation in the presidential and parliamentary elections of 2019 and created an alliance, Opposition Platform, For Life [6] [7] . On the same day, other leaders of the Opposition Bloc, Boris Kolesnikov and Vadim Novinsky, argued that the agreement was Boyko’s “personal initiative” and the Opposition Bloc did not take any decisions about cooperation with Za Life [8] . On November 17, 2018, "The Opposition Platform - For Life" put forward Boiko as her candidate for the presidential election [7] . On the same day, the Development Party of Ukraine (part of the Opposition Bloc) joined the Opposition Platform - For Life [7] . Boyko and Sergey Lovochkin were excluded from the “Opposition bloc” because of the “betrayal of the interests of their voters” on November 20, 2018 [9] .

On December 26, 2018, the Ukrainian News agency reported about the registration of the Opposition Bloc - Peace and Development Party by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. The new organization was created by renaming the Party of Peace and Development, registered on June 13, 2014 and headed by Vitaly Kisel, an employee of Metinvest . Some time later, the emblem changed on the party’s website, controlled by supporters of Akhmetov and Kolesnikov: instead of the old one (“OPPOSITION BLOCK”), a new one appeared (“OPPOSITION BLOCK” in capital letters and “- peace and development party” in small letters) [10] . The comrades of those who were expelled from Oppoblock, Boyko and Levochkin, accused the new organization of cloning the party, which the initiators of what was considered to be the “Kolesnikov-Novinsky- Vilkul group” [11] .

Against this background, the editorial policy of the affiliated channels has changed: Inter , as well as NewsOne and 112 Ukraine, began to advertise the Opposition Platform, while Ukraine continued the previous policy [12] .

December 25, 2018 Russia published the second list of citizens and companies of Ukraine, which fall under its sanctions. Among them were 22 deputies of the Opposition bloc, as well as former members of the faction Mikhail Dobkin and Yevgeny Murayev who had managed to create their own political forces. All these politicians with pro-Russian views were united by the refusal to cooperate with the “Opposition Platform - For Life” and Boiko and Levochkin who voted for the exception [13] [14] [15] .

On January 20, 2019, at the congress of the Forum for Peace and Development, the party nominated the deputy head of the faction Oleksandr Vilkul as a candidate for President of Ukraine [16] .

On June 7, 2019, the parties Opposition Bloc, Party of Peace and Development , OUR , Revival and Trust in Affairs united before the parliamentary elections [17] .
