Marya Elikowska-Winkler , Polish version - Maria Elikowska-Winkler , German version - German version - Maria Elikovska-Winkler ( n. Puddle Marja Elikowska-Winklerowa ; Polish ) - philologist, Nizhneluzhitsk social activist of Polish origin. Member of the Nizhneluzhitsk language commission ^[1] . Founder and leader of the School of Lower Lawns in Cottbus ^[2] .

She graduated in German studies at the University of Poznan ^[3] . From 1981 she lived in the GDR, where she taught Polish ^[4] . She studied the Nizhneuzhitsky language in the Nizhneluzhitsk Central Language School in the village of Deshenchen (Dissenchen), where she simultaneously taught Polish ^[5] . In 1990, she founded the Nizhneluzhitsky language courses, which in 1992 were transformed into the Schule für die Niedersorbische Sprache und Kultu, Šula za serbsku rec i kulturu School of Lower Languages ​​and Culture (Schule für die Niedersorbische Sprache und Kultu). Later this educational institution was incorporated into the state system of adult education. The number of students in this school increased from 70 in 1992 to 3,500 in 2002 ^[6] .

Currently, cooperating with the University of Viadrina and the language center " Witaj ", is actively engaged in the dissemination of various scientific, educational and methodological programs for the study of the Lower Lawns language and the expansion of its sphere of use.

In 1997 she was awarded the Polish government's “Merit for Culture” medal and in 2001 she was awarded the Order of Merit ^[7] . In 2002, the School of the Nizhneluzhitsky language and culture led by it received the European Language Seal award.

Since 2004 - Member of the Serboluži Council at the Brandenburg Parliament. ^[eight]
