Professional career
In 2018, Cannon put forward his candidacy for the NFL draft . Assessing his prospects, the league’s website analysts noted the player’s good starting speed, his ability to get away from the defenders' grabs and the ability to effectively use Trenton as part of special teams. The minuses included the small dimensions of the player and the lack of muscle mass, which did not allow him to push the opponent after contact [2] .
In the draft, he was selected by the New York Jets club in the sixth round. In May 2018, he, the first of the drafted players, signed a rookie contract with the team [3] .
In the National Football League, Cannon made his debut in the first game week in a victory game against the Detroit Lions , gaining 15 remote yards. Over the course of the season, he was the team's third early runback after Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell . In the fourteenth gaming week in the match against the Buffalo Bills , he entered the first touchdown in his professional career [4] . In total in the regular season, he scored 113 extension yards and 144 yards at the reception. Trenton also regularly entered the field as part of special teams, despite the fact that during the pre-season training he had problems with keeping the ball on the return [5] [6] .
